Muchinga aims to educate local communities and has created the MUCHINGA ADVENTURE SCHOLARSHIP to that effect. Each year, we identify potential undergraduate students and sponsor them to attend university (UNZA, our state university in Zambia and/or reputable distance learning programmes) where we encourage them to develop their knowledge in the fields of Medicine, Health, Teaching, Wildlife and Conservation. We identify students who are from or have ties to the Chifundu area.
The Chifundu community is educated to view animals as a resource and a means to provide long term financial benefits to the community at large. We are changing attitudes and educating against the conflict between conservation efforts and the dangers of poaching to fulfill short-term benefits to only a handful of community members.
